If Chicago mayor Rahm Emanuel has it his way his new proposal, which would require students to develop a post-high school plan before receiving a diploma. As he said on “CBS This Morning” on Wednesday.
Under the proposal, all Chicago Public School students starting with this year’s freshman class would have to show an acceptance letter to a four-year university, a community college, a trade school or apprenticeship, an internship, or a branch of the armed services in order to receive their high school diploma.
What about those that my work for the family business? or plan to join a sports team? Seems this maybe a idea that makes these children forced to pick from his list and not make their own choice.
Based on research today we see CPS has filed false numbers on this issue. And also based on this report from nces.ed.gov the rate has dropped every year from 1990 till 2014 nation wide. See full stats here. https://nces.ed.gov/fastfacts/display.asp?id=16
More info on CPS false reporting.
